Black girl podcasts: a podcast created by and for black women
In a world where we are still being taught that beauty looks European, black women are still being degraded, and we are not enough, a space where black girls can convene and recharge is so necessary. Black girl podcasts are essentially where I fill and recharge myself with business advice, self care, or just hearing some empowering words from my sister so I know I am not the only one going through. They are also a great alternative to listening to music (just in case you’re not in the mood). As a woman who lives to empower her sister, I gathered my top 5 podcasts that I’ve subscribed to and must listen. These following podcasts are created by women who are dedicated to self care, empowerment, and being a light to others!
Hey Girl – Alex Elle
Hey Girl is fairly new, but its creator Alex Elle of www.AlexElle.com is not a newbie in the game. She is definitely a light of reality and humanness to her followers and this podcast is a prime example. Hey Girl unites multiple voices and perspectives of women as they share their stories. Hey Girl is definitely my alternative to reality TV.
LIV “The Live in Love with you” Lifestyle – (Liv) Denise
Liv of www.LiveInLoveWithYou.com created this gem as a holistic approach to self love. Weekly, she provides advices and guidance on self love and care. Liv’s energy is unmatched and definitely a podcast to start your week or day off on an amazing start.
The Core – Amber Janae
The Core is Amber Janae of www.Amber-Janae.com brain child and it is flourishing. She creates content on maintaining mental wellness from balancing your emotions to interactions with society. I love to listen to her podcast as I work on my most daunting task. Something about her voice and articulation of her words, helps me experience what she is saying as she speaks.
Black Girl In Om –LAUREN ASH AND DEUN IVORY
Lauren Ash and Deun Ivory the founders of Black Girl In Om describes their space as a go to for all things self care, self love, and wellness for women of color. Easily, this podcast is my first choice when I need solace and peace. It’s such a resource for black women in all aspects of life, I recommend it to everyone. From holistic skin care to confidence and self esteem. Black Girl In Om feels like an intimate conversation with your closest girlfriend and yourself.
The Femme Focus Podcast
Dorian Johnson of www.TheFemmeFocus.com is mastering a platform that empowers EVERY woman. She covers topics that effect the total woman such as lifestyle including finances to mental wellness. Dorian’s podcast gets me through any day.
