Hey Queens.

This will be all about achieving healthy, glowing skin in the easiest way possible.  It seems like every regimen has to be so detailed in order to obtain gorgeous skin which is so far from true. On the other hand, if you’re not sure where to start to take better care of your skin, but you know you want to can be tricky as well. Glowing, healthy skin can be achieved EASILY in 3 simple steps.

1.Cleanse.

This step is important because dirty, clogged pores are what causes premature wrinkles, loose non-elastic skin, acne, and dull skin. It’s the first step in removing dirt from your pores. There are several ways you can give your face the cleanse it needs.

Oil wash: is using oil to remove dirt from your face. Here is a post dedicated completely to oil washes and its benefits: Facial Oil Wash.

Facial bar: African Black Soap is a go to soap for African American skin. Different brands and soaps themselves have different levels of potency so it will take some trial and error to discover which fits your skin more. Sereniti Bath Body and You Detox Soap contains active charcoal that draws out impurities plus a million other benefits for skin without worrying about if it I’ll dry your skin out or not. Shea Moisture black soap is great for all skin types. Quick tip: organic, natural soap is The best and safest route for your skin. It will prevent over dry and applying unnecessary chemical to your skin. Also, to prevent your soap from melting too soon, cut it into sections and use one section at a time.

How to use

  • Apply soap to wet face to lather.
  • Massage in circular motion until your liking.
  • Rinse with warm water.

Liquid cleanser: This is the equal of bar soap but in liquid form. Which ever you choose is just personal preference. You would use a liquid cleanser similar to bar soap by applying product to wet face and cleansing in circular motion. Finally rinse with warm water. As with soap, organic, natural products are the best for any skincare regimen, especially individuals who suffer from any skin problems. Synthetic chemicals irritate skin more often that any natural ingredient. Here are some natural, organic companies who offer liquid cleansers.

2. Exfoliate.

Consider exfoliating as deep cleansing your skin. It’s goes the extra step in removing any clutter in your pores and remove necessary dead skin cell for vibrant skin. This regenerates your skin and opens your pores. Depending on which method you choose, will dictate how often you will exfoliate. Nontheless, it’s not an everyday technique. The desired outcome is clean and moisturized feeling skin with that extra glow.

Face scrub: 1-2x weekly. Sugar scrubs filled with organic, natural oils are gentle enough for your face and best for removing clutter and adding nourishment. Recommendation: Sereniti Bath Body And You

Facial mask: 2-3x weekly. Recommendation: Any Shea Moisture Mud Mask or Sereniti Bath Body and You Facial Mask will definitely get the job done. Face masks usually require less trouble because you can apply and continue to do other things versus spending that 5.15 minutes in the bathroom.

Facial brush: Depends. Anywhere from 1-3x weekly. This brush is expensive but it is well worth it. You would use this brush during cleansing easily eliminating an extra step.

Steam treatment: Stream treatments are amazing in opening and draining your pores plus they are just so relaxing. You can either purchase a facial steamer here or use the following steps:

  • Bring a pot of water to boil.
  • Pour boiling water into a ceramic or glass bowl.
  • OPTIONAL: add Essential oils to create a spa feel.
  • Hold your face over the bowl with a towel draped over your head. Don’t steam longer than 10-15 minutes to prevent skin irritation.
  • Follow up with a toner and/or mud mask.

3. Moisturize.

When you clean your face of impurities, it takes some of its natural oils with it. Those natural oils are there to protect and nourish your skin to keep it soft, hydrated, non-flaky, and glowing. Also, your skin goes into hyperdrive if lost moisture isn’t replenished trying to replace it. This leads to too much oil being produced and a bad case of acne and inflammation.  This is why moisture is essential part of your skincare routine. Depending on your skin type, oily, combination, and/or dry you will benefit most from a light or heavier moisturizer. Oil can be an great moisturizer for your skin (all skin types) or Shea Moisture face moisturizers work great at nourishing skin and make primers as well.

As always, create your own happiness.
